Awards Night

I sort of feel like how people viewed Haley Joel Osment when he was nominated for an Academy Award for The Sixth Sense  -way too young and inexperienced.  I haven’t been at this blogging thing for very long and surely there are some seriously funny gals out there who more than likely just blow me out of the water.  But, I humbly accept these nominations from Chrystalyn Hope over at The Future of Hope whose blog posts are a smorgasbord of tasty treats, sometimes serious, sometimes funny, sometimes poignant but mostly fun to read.  Also, I like her funky hair!

Before the music cuts me off, I’d like to thank a few people for encouraging me to write: My grade 9 English teacher, who, when I wrote a sordid tale of hooking and cloning on the Sunset Strip, thought so much of it she gave me a grade of 19/20 (highest possible grade… there’s always room for improvement) and read it to the entire class.  To my college professor (Ms. Hearne, 20th Century Irish Writers) who didn’t return my James Joyce assignment because she wanted to use it as an example for the rest of the class to see before they did their resubmissions.  To my mom for e-mailing me after my first blog post, “You’re a lovely little writer” and to my friend Yasmeen who said to me, “I really wish you would write more.”

Finally, thank you to my hunk of Armenian man meat who puts up with the ginger on a daily basis, who patiently listens as I read him every blog post and who has let me mock (permission is always requested before mockings are posted) him more than once on this site.

Without further adieu (that’s right, I speak French…), Mrs. Sparkly’s 10 Commandments questions answered:

Describe yourself in 7 words?: Independent, smart, stubborn to the max, honest, frustrated, opinionated, quirky.

What keeps you up at night?: Coffee the boyfriend.

Whom would you like to be?: Just me.

What are you wearing now?: Umm really? Is this where I say, “whatever you want me to be wearing”

What scares you?: Splash Mountain, no doubt.

What are the best and worst things about blogging?: Best: Talented writers, creative expression, encountering new people.  Worst: Bad writers, trolls.

What was the last website you looked at?: My blog Google.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?: I wish I could just let things go.

Slankets yes or no: Definitely not (for those who are too lazy to Google it, it’s a weirdbodyblanketthing).

Tell us something about the person who nominated you?: I don’t know much about the woman behind the blog, but I can tell you she writes about some stuff I can certainly relate to and she’s been my blog’s biggest supporter (thanks again so much for the noms!). Also, Canadians rule!

My nominations will be posted in the very near future.  Check back soon!
